James Benjamin Franklin
Artwork Description
The base of those works is made up of molded plaster strips and epoxy resin, which allows the artist to configure a different support for each work. The borders of these wavy surfaces, bent inwards, give the works a sculptural and handcrafted quality. More than a quadrangular delimitation in the sense of the traditional “frame”, the paintings exist in a space that can be understood as a container. This quality allows the artist to use each surface as a repository to experiment with different materialities and procedures, while emphasizing the objectual character of the painting.
