Artwork Description

A reinterpretation of the well-known sixteenth-century masterpiece by Vittore Carpaccio, made entirely of Lego bricks. Taking advantage of the loan of the altarpiece "Saint George killing the dragon" of Vittore Carpaccio to two important and international exhibitions, the Benedectine Community of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice commissioned to the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei a reinterpretation of the masterpiece that, re-proposing the original iconography with contemporary effectiveness, comes to re-semanticize the ancient altar dedicated to the martyr.
