Artwork Description

| About the work An art as a rare example of the fruitful collaboration between the creator and the demanding aesthete, between the artist and the evaluating eye that inhabits oneself. From one project to the next, the artist leads a path where the artistic exercise goes hand in hand with a constant self-critical reflection, an association that ensures a work that combines the desire for audacity with the imperative of moderation, the need to surpass oneself with a concern for consistency. Since 1999, the artist has multiplied the mediums just as his exhibitions offer very different appearances from one to another, but the whole displays a solid common denominator: an effect of ardent health, of infallible control. If the paintings, installations or objects that the artist creates are so deeply imprinted in the memory, it is because of this aura of prowess that distinguishes them: to bring out so much spirit, sensitivity and questioning in the austerity of the material. | About the artist Born in 1966 in Casablanca, Fatiha Zemmouri has developed an elaborate body of polymorphous work in which the natural phenomena of water, fire and earth, and materials such as wood, coal and earth, are used to reflect meticulously on notions of construction, deconstruction, regeneration and transformation. Her work uses an abstract vocabulary, simplifying the forms of nature, displaying the delicacy of the materials used, and proposing a singular poetry. The result is a metamorphosis between time and transformation, fraught with tension, a metaphor for human mutation and its evolution through life, an allegory for universal concerns, humanity, existence and survival. Her work has been appreciated and recognised through major projects, including Marrakech Biennial (2019), Ville de Paris (2022) and Jeddah Biennial (2023), alongside solo and collective exhibitions, taking her to international art collections.
